![]() I would say the implementation of corporate social responsibility includes 5 steps as follows. The first step is to define a vision that leaders of a firm make decision to create in order to match the firm's societal purpose. Then it requires publicizing internally and externally and strategic planning and budgeting. This vision helps the entrepreneur take close attention to social consequences due to the bad impact on the society they create during the process of business. Therefore, they externalize actions to solve problems through their entrepreneurial initiatives. For instance, Nestles, Unilever, and Danone are re-positioning themselves as food and health companies. Car makers like Nissan, Toyota are re-defining their purpose as low carbon emission mobility. Or technology and telecommunication giants such as IBM, Intel, and Verizon have invested their money in the fields of education and health care.
Secondly, this vision has to be translated into a concrete strategy that gives shape and direction to the firm and prioritizes a handful of genuine societal changes and growth opportunities. For example, Nestles's products need water, agricultural products, thus they focus on the use of water, rural development, and nutrition. Thirdly, it is the partnership between internal and external factors. The entrepreneur needs the collaboration of stakeholders, for instance, who among employees could run CSR. They also need the support of academic, government, or civil association players. The fourth is performance indicator that needs a measure as an adage says: If you cannot measure it, you cannot manage it. For example, Proximus calculates the number of students they train in Digitalent Academy, then follow up with them to determine how may go on to secure a job. Last but not least, it is communication that the firm uses to approach target audience, e.g, employees as CSR demands employees' engagement. In addition to internal communication, the firm also needs the external communication to convey their CSR reports full of transparency and commitment. Comments are closed.
